This excursion takes one across the high Atlas on an impressive mountain road which its way past numerous Berber villages up to the 2260m Tizi n’Tichka, the highest mountain pass in the Atlas. Beyond the high Atlas begins the landscape of semi desert punctuated by Kasbahs and small houses of mud and straw vividly contrasting with green fields which spring up alongside the river en route to Ouarzazate, a modern town built the French as a garrison post on the edge of the Sahara.

Visits include the old residence of the Bacha El Glaoui, the Taourirt Kasbah and Ait Bennhaddou, an ancient, picturesque hill village popular with filmmakers.
